At Ardent, passion isn’t just in our name, it’s in our DNA. And now, after a few energising days together at our recent 2025 Team Retreat, we’ve captured that passion in a new purpose statement to guide us forward:

“Transforming passion into connections, and connections into impact”

This isn’t just words on a page. It’s our compass, helping us anchor clarity, energy, and direction in everything we do — for our team, our partners, and the impact we create together. 

Finding Our Compass at the Historic Fitzroy Inn

To kick off the retreat, the Ardent team swapped office desks for couch-side workshops, brainstorming sessions, and plenty of laughter in the cosy, home-like surrounds of the NSW Southern Highlands. 

From team-building exercises to a beautiful, shared dinner, complete with speeches and dance moves that carried on late into the night, the retreat was full of energy. The historic charm of Fitzroy Inn and its relaxed country vibe created the perfect environment for reflection and collaboration. 

Being together in this way strengthened our bonds as an Ardent family and set the stage for big ideas and meaningful discussion. It was the kind of shared experience that sparks clarity and creativity.

From Reflection to Purpose

With this energy as our backdrop, we turned inward to explore what drives us as a team. We began with mindfulness exercises to pause and reflect on the values and motivations that propel our daily work. 

From there, we explored our purpose compass, considering four key questions: 

  • What future do we help build?
  • What brings energy into our team and our partners? 
  • What do we stand for, no matter the cost? 
  • What do we no longer want to be part of? 

These questions guided robust discussions and idea refinement using structured purpose statement frameworks. Through this process, we challenged one another’s thinking, transformed ideas into clarity, and ultimately arrived at a purpose statement that reflects the collective energy, values, and vision of our team.

Purpose as Our Compass

This new purpose now connects the threads that matter most. It links performance to meaning, ensuring results contribute to a bigger story; culture to direction, creating a shared understanding of why we do what we do; and decisions to impact, anchoring every choice in outcomes that truly matter. 

By uniting us around a common vision, our purpose provides both clarity and energy, guiding how we work, how we collaborate, and how we engage with our partners.

The retreat also gave us a chance to reflect on Ardent’s values, which guided every conversation and decision:

  • Evolve: We refined and improved ideas throughout the process.

Together, these values ensured that our purpose was not just aspirational but actionable, something we can live every day.

The unity, excitement, and energy at the retreat reminded us why purpose matters. It isn’t just aspirational, it’s actionable. It’s our compass for every decision, every engagement with our partners, and every step forward as a team.
